I know I do. It’s not obvious at first but if I ever think of not using a computer for a day, my chests literally aches. I get an urge to use a computer when before I didn’t have one. Mind you, this only happens when I THINK of not using it for a day, but if I’m out around town all day and don’t use it, I’m fine. I know I’m addicted but with technology always being at hand around every corner and everyone expecting me to use it, how exactly do I handle it? I’m a writer and I’ve tried writing by hand but after a few pages my mind starts yelling at me, “you can do this so much faster on the computer why not jump on it and write this,” which in turn leads to my chest hurting with the angst and desire which is then relieaved when I get on the computer. Problem is, I’ll spend several hours watching videos or surfing the web without writing a single thing…so frustrating. Any advice?

Realise that you may well be using it as a more entertaining, or safer substitute for real life, with its risks, problems, work, and boredom.
Set a sensible limit, such as 2 – 3 hrs, and use an alarm, or reminder in your PDA, or cell/mobile phone for 10 mns earlier, so you can finish. Have some things ready to do, then.
If you don’t stick to this, no internet next day.
