Studies have revealed that when a non-alcoholic spouse joins in on the treatment program, the patient is likelty to participate more and continue to strive to become sober even after the treatment program is over. Couples therapy strengthens the benefits offered by the treatment program. Not only that, but it also forges a stronger bond between couples by encouraging them to solve their problems together, improve their communication skills, and engage themselves in a lot of shared activities. Couples therapy also comes with a relapse prevention plan. This method improves a couple’s marital relationship as well as helps the patient make his way into sobriety.

Yes, a spouse who is showing support via unconditional love and non-judgemental thoughts @ this time is beneficial, in my opinion. Being an addict in my past, I found having people surrounding me with their love, support, and understanding helped me during the process I went through. Good Luck and Take Care! Hope this helped!
