so my dad has been drinking ever since i can remember (im 19) but today he asked for help. he is 47 so im guessing hes been drinking since he was like 15.
so ive been researching & the cheapest centers are like 3-5 grand/month. ive also read that gov centers are not a good option because they are short, little succes rate, probably end up using more drugs than before. etc.
so any ex-alcoholics. can you give me tips on how to help him? what helped you? did you go to center? did it help?
i also read that soemetimes its better to keep drinking and gradually decrease, other wise your body will react badly? is this true?

thanks for all the suggestions. the problem is he already tried AA but it didnt work.
but ive never gone to those AL-Anon mettings so ima try it.it might help.

yeah i hate those places i been send to 5 of then 2 cause thet juge told me to and the family forced me to. i hate it cause you have to sit down and listen to ever bodies crap just the thought of it makes me sick………i need a beer

the best way and this helped boyh my dad mum and wife was to care 4 them24/7 take themout of the areas they were use to the routine and the doldrums of everyday life. I drink now but not excessive my mum dad and wife are all off the booze and can sit in a bar with me and be ok. it is and has been very hard not only 4 them but 4 me yet after 6 yrs of battles and near murder i have got the most important people in my life back under control and they are looking well and feeling good. so let me tell you patience and strenghth from you will pay off in the end.
