About a month ago I had a hemmorhoidectomy, i was scheduled to take the percocets for that day only, and if maybe another day or two if the pain was bad(it was at times, i couldnt sit or lay down because it just hurt too much down there). Than as time went on the pain eventually dissipated, but i found myself taking JUST ONE Percocet everyday right before bed time, it gave me this really strange drowsy sensation, i could fall asleep way more quickly than normal. As i was taking the percocets i also found myself constipated, and as each day passed that i took 1 Percocet i was also drinking Metamucil, as i though the constipation was odd(i dint care to read the warning labels about Constipation being a side effect of Percocets) I know my doctor told me a few times, but i guess i disregarded his warnings. Now im frightend to death, it has been close to a month since i started taking the Percocets, like i mentioned just ONCE a day, no more no less. I still have the bottle of pills, as i read withdrawing completely from the Percocets is dangerous. What should i do??

You can stop taking them and you may only have insomnia. It will kill you. The percocet addiction is when people use them to get high and take more than 6 a day. You are just using them as a sleep aide. Call your dr if you get insomnia to get something to help you sleep. Percocet does constipate people.It may cause drowsiness or dizziness. The first sign of tolerance and possible addiction would be exceeding this maximum recommended dose, or taking the medication more often than your doctor prescribes. There is another possibility, that the condition requires more pain relief than originally thought. In that case, another pain medication should be used. Simply increasing the amount of Percocet will eventually lead to excessive and harmful effects from too much acetaminophen.

I recommend that you go ahead and ask your doctor about this, for you may have a sleeping condition. Hey may prescribe you something new instead of this Perocet. If he does, do not use the Perocet anymore unless instructed by your doctor.
